The Postdoctoral Program at the Federal University of Uberlândia (PPD-UFU) is an institutional initiative designed to strengthen research and research groups through the local residency of a researcher in the form of a postdoctoral fellowship.
Resolution No. 18/2015 of the Research and Graduate Studies Council (CONPEP/UFU) establishes the regulatory framework for the Postdoctoral Program at UFU.
According to Resolution No. 18/2015, the main objectives of the program are:
I – to promote high-level research and studies;
II – to strengthen the research group of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at UFU;
III – to foster the inclusion of Brazilian researchers within the PPGEELT;
IV – to improve the scientific and technological excellence of PPGEELT.
In alignment with the UFU Institutional Development Plan (PIDE-UFU) 2022–2027 and the PPGEELT Strategic Plan 2022–2027, the objectives of PPD-UFU-PPGEELT include, but are not limited to:
Enhancing the scientific excellence of UFU and PPGEELT through:
- Publication of at least one article in a journal indexed in the Web of Science (Clarivate) database with a Journal Citation Reports (JCR) score of 2.0 or higher;
- Registration of computer software with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI); and
- Filing of a patent application with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).
Note: As a minimum requirement, the candidate must commit to preparing and submitting at least one scientific article related to the proposed research topic, co-authored with their supervisor, for publication in a journal indexed in Web of Science (Clarivate) with a JCR ≥ 2.0.
Contributing to human resource development within PPGEELT through:
- Offering free short courses (minimum 12 hours) related to the proposed research topic, open to the UFU community and external professionals and students. The course announcement and registration materials must be sent to the Program Coordination at least 30 days in advance;
- Collaborating in courses taught by the supervisor within PPGEELT;
- Co-supervising graduate students enrolled in PPGEELT master’s or doctoral programs; and
- Participating in examination committees.
Note: As a minimum requirement, the candidate must commit to offering at least one free short course (minimum 12 hours) during the first semester of the proposed work plan, aligned with the research theme.
Increasing PPGEELT’s visibility and promoting its research lines and groups nationally and internationally through:
- Publication and/or presentation of scientific papers at specialized conferences organized by recognized scientific and technical societies in the Engineering IV field;
- Participation as a speaker in seminars and/or workshops organized by the research group or PPGEELT. When organized by the research group or supervisor, the event announcement and registration materials must be submitted to the Program Coordination at least 30 days in advance;
- Producing short videos to disseminate research results on social media and online platforms.
Note: As a minimum requirement, the candidate must commit to participating as a speaker in seminars and/or workshops held during the first semester of the proposed work plan, promoted by the research group and/or PPGEELT Coordination at UFU.
Participant Responsibilities
As stated in Resolution No. 18/2015 of the Research and Graduate Studies Council (UFU), PPD-UFU participants must:
I – fully execute the activities defined in the approved work plan;
II – comply with UFU’s institutional, statutory, and regulatory norms;
III – include in all scientific outputs and publications the name of PPGEELT, the corresponding Academic Unit, and the Institution in reference to the work conducted during participation in the PPD-UFU.
Duration and Reporting
For voluntary or self-funded postdoctoral fellowships, the duration must be no less than three months and no more than one year, renewable at the discretion of the PPGEELT Council.
For fellowships lasting more than 12 months, participants must submit semiannual progress reports detailing activities completed and proposed, along with a formal request for renewal to the PPGEELT Council.
Upon completion of the fellowship, participants must submit a final report, detailed and comprehensive, accompanied by a supervisor’s evaluation, which will be reviewed by the PPGEELT Council.
